MUA Update & AGM

Graham Maxfield, MUA General Manager opened the conference and provided an update to what has been a very successful year for the MUA.

The MUA AGM also was held with four Resolutions being tabled:-

  • Resolution 1 – Acceptance of 2007/8 Accounts
  • Resolution 2 – Election of new Committee member
  • Resolution 3 – Re-appointment of Graham Maxfield as Director
  • Resolution 4 – Change of Constitution to Lawson as the vendor

Case Study – F.W. Thorpe

Peter Mason, Finance Director of F W Thorpe, gave a presentation of their “Stepping Up” project, from RPG version 10.8 to Java version 12.5.

Case Study – SAPA Building Systems

Kathy Cookson, Systems Director, at SAPA Building Systems presented their experience after they implemented Movex in 2002 . They found the system was becoming overloaded with over 5 years of data. This was resolved using Vision Solutions, OS Data Manager/ Director product.

Vision Solutions

Adam Berger gave a short presentation about Vision Solutions, before inviting the delegates to join them in complementary pre-dinner drinks.

Graham Maxfield opened second day, with 2 presentations, of interest to both M3 & S3 delegates.

Lawson – HCM

Kristin Trecker, Lawson’s V.P. Human Resources presented how they use of Lawson’s HCM (Human Capital Management) system revolutionised their recruitment selection, and staff management processes.

Lawson Learning

Judith White, Lawson’s Learning Director, gave an overview on the new training options.

Invoice Handling

An Invoice Management solution that automates the manual & time consuming tasks of registering and processing invoices. Using a combination of scanning software to capture and read the paper documents, and a workflow and archive product that manages the electronic documents while they are sent around the organization for approvals & entering of account information.

Product Information Management

Mike Nutter of Blue Dot gave a present of In-River’s PIM solution.

Merit Consulting

Terje Myrseth, Market Director of Merit introduced and presented their new fresh exciting new approach to the provision of solutions and consultancy services in the M3 market place, and an insight into Merit Support and Merit Portal

Estrix – CRM

mrc – Dashboards

Many M3 clients use MRC’s m-Power real-time data access tool todeliver reports, KPI dashboards and data entry extranets around<br>their core systems. This session showed how a developer uses the tool to create a browser-based dashboard over an iSeries (or SQL) database.

Intermec – Lawson Mobile

Intermec, together with partners, have worked with Lawson to provide an advanced solution allowing mobile workers to communicate directly with the Lawson applications using a windows handheld mobile computer. This case study will discuss how this technology is being used at a large international customer.

StreamServe

Paul Swaddle, Account Manager, gave an overview of StreamServe’s latest version.

Microsoft

Mark Deakon of Microsoft gave a light hearted presentation on today’s communication issues.

Conference Close

Graham Maxfield closed the conference at 16:00 p.m. and announced that the 4 resolutions had been approved unanimously.
